Google Realtime

Google Realtime is used to search for specific things' online activity. Say you wanted to see how much online activity is going on about ipod, news, tweets about them, facebook statuses, etc. Just type in "ipod" to the search bar and there you have it! The latest news, facebook statuses, and tweets about ipods! It is pretty cool because if someone wants to look to see if there is any news about an oil spill or anything like that, just go to Google Realtime and you can see the most recent news about it! Realtime tracks information up to the second so if you just leave it open, you can be informed up to the second on anything you want to know about. You can also define searches. If you only want posts from people who are near your location, just click "Nearby" and there you go! Do you want posts from people only in Denver, CO? Then click "custom location", type in Denver, CO, and viola!, only posts from Denver come up. Advanced search works just like it does in Google Search. You can search within certain domains, file types, languages, date when they were created, keywords, etc. This is a very helpful tool to help you define searches and making it much easier.

Firefox Personas

Firefox personas are pictures that you can put into your toolbar to personalize it. It's very cool to have because it spices up the web-browsing experience. It makes being on the internet just that much more fun! You can import your own pictures, choose from defaults, and browse for ones from other people.

Bibme

Bibme is a site where you can make your very own bibliography. It would definitely help out with a school assignment if you needed to write one for English class. You can also write a works-cited page by using this website. I think it is very handy and I will most likely use it in the future for papers.

Google Utilities

Google maps, news, books, product features, translate, and search are very useful tools. They all have their own purposes. Google maps (top) is very useful for when you need directions to a place. Just put in where you want to go and it will automatically tell you how long it will take to get there from the place you put in as your location according to how you are traveling. Google news (third from top) is very good to put as a homepage so you can be caught up in the events going on in the world. Google books(second from bottom) allows you to read some books, but not all. Just go to books and type in what book you want, if they have it you can preview it or it gives you a list of where you can buy it. This is useful for people who like reading. Google product features (second from top) allow you to get a more in-depth search for things you want to buy. It shows you where you buy things from, people's ratings on the product, and price. Google translate(third from bottom) allows you to translate from any language to any other language you want. Say you wanted to learn the German word for "Television". Just put English in the "from" box and German in the "to" box and then type in Television. Then it will tell you the German word for Television. Google search(bottom) lets you search for tings that you are interested in. It definitely helps when you need more information for a paper, or just when something you're trying to remember is bugging you.

Publishing vs Drafting Messages

Blogger lets you draft or publish messages. The drafting can be useful for when you have an idea for later but don't think you will remember it. You draft it and it saves the message for later! Publishing is just publishing it to your page. This is obviously for when you want to talk about something on your blog.

I have a few new gadgets on my blog. One of them is the Virtual Pet gadget. You have all kinds of choices as to what pet you want, like ducks, wolves, dogs, cats, etc. This is a fun gadget! Not the most entertaining gadget in the world but it's pretty fun to have. I chose a duck (you can change the color) and colored him blue. I named him Mr.Fluffy! When you click on him he quacks :)

Tagxedo

This is another Wordcloud I made out of a favorite song of mine. "Bwomp" by Mushroomhead.

This is a word could I made using the song "My Child" by Disturbed. I made this cloud on Wordle.com. These are very cool because it's cool to see what you favorite song or poem will turn out in this format. It can be useful as well. You can use it to identify the words you use too much in a paper for example. The words that you type in more than others will be the biggest, so you can look and try to reduce the use of the words and replace them with synonyms. That's just one example though. I'm sure other people will find many other uses.

This is a word cloud I created using ImageChef. This tool lets you put in any words you want and it automatically turns them into a cool design like the one above. You can also make the words into an Initials design. You put in two letters and then the words and it will make them into the initials. This could be used mostly for recreational purposes, as I used it for. This is an amazing tool and I will definitely be using it in the future.

Symbaloo

Symbaloo is a site that you use to organize your favorite websites. You can take all of your sites and make tiles for them, then you put all of the tiles on a page. This page is very useful if you put it as your homepage, then you do not have to keep typing URL's. All you'll have to do is click on the panel for the website and you can be at the website.

Del.icio.us

Del.icio.us is a website where you can share and explore your and your friends' favorite links to websites. You use this to remember all of your favorite websites in case you forget. Your friends can go onto your page and check out your links and vice-versa.

New Social Virtual World...SmallWorld!

SmallWorlds is a virtual world where you can socialize with other people. You make a customizable avatar, walk around with people, play games, and other activities. It is similar to Meez but in this one you can actually do something other than sitting and talking. This is a pretty fun website.

Social Bookmarking Sites

Diigo is a Social Bookmarking site. You can use it to bookmark your favorite sites, sites you need to remember, or anything like that. It is incredibly useful and I can see myself using it for research and bookmarking my site that I use to learn new yo-yo tricks and such. Especially since I forget it most of the time. Also, you can highlight text that you see and like then they will be posted on your Diigo page for others to see. The last feature of Diigo is Sticky Notes. You can go to a site, place a sticky note on it, and other people who use Diigo can see them and comment. This tool is extremely useful.

This is a Meez chat room. They are fun to go into and socialize with friends or strangers! There are interactive items ( example: the highlighted table in the bottom right corner). It lets you watch youtube videos and Hulu! You can customize your room with furniture, etc. This is very fun for socializing!

This is a Meez. They are animated Avatars that you can customize and have fun with. You play games to earn points to spend on new clothes. There are downfalls to this site though, it isn't all free. Most of the clothing and animations cost points or real money. The clothes are also a problem, they don't appeal to all people. Instead they focus on the Hip-Hop and Emo/Goth scene.

This is a Voki Avatar. They are very customizable and fun to make! You can edit backgrounds with any picture you want, make them talk through text or even your own voice, and embed it to any of your websites! They go from people all the way to fictional characters like Santa Clause! These are fun to use and brighten up any website.

This blog is to help build my skills is Social Media class. I also use Facebook, Yahoo! Messenger, etc. And on a side note: Sony is my favorite electronics company and Playstation is superior to Xbox! ;P
